October Color Inspiration

The air is beginning to have a cool bite and frost is starting to settle on the colorful Autumn leaves. That means it's time to pull out my cozy sweaters. Do you look forward to snuggling up in a soft sweater? I will be winter before we know it!

The Knit Together bundle is perfect way to capture the coziness of snuggly, knit textures, and patterns. That makes it an ideal way to transition from rich Autumn cards to cool winter creations!

This month's Colour Inspiration is all about crisp, cool blues. I think you'll like the unexpected blue monochromatic look combined with the Knit Together Bundle and the icy elegance of the Whimsical Trees Bundle.

Fun fact, blue is the most common favourite colour. It’s nature’s colour for water and sky and is considered to be cool and calm. You can create a cool, crisp look for any project with a monochromatic mix of blues.

The first project features the Knit Together Bundle (#156454), Silver Foil (#156457), Subtle Shimmer Sequins (#156407), and Simply Elegant Trim (#155766). The sweet, warm greeting is from the Whimsical Trees stamp set (#156330).

The second card features the Whimsical Trees Bundle (#156810), Peaceful Place 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper (#156394), Subtle Shimmer Sequins (#156407), Lovely Labels Pick A Punch (#152883), and White 3/8" Glittered Organdy Ribbon (#156408).

World Card Making Day

In 2006 Paper Craft magazine named the first Saturday in October as World Card Making Day – a day to celebrate cardmakers!  For todays card I  played with Stampin' Up's  Blackberry Beauty 12 X 12 DSP.  It is the perfect combination of papers to showcase the beauty of fall!

I started by cutting a  sheet of Blackberry Bliss Cardstock to use as a card base then glued down a piece of the DSP matted with Gold Metallic Paper.

I was excited to find this was the perfect project to use some Paper Lattice that had just arrived in an order yesterday. It fit perfectly over the DSP!

I gathered my diecuts  and other embellishments together and played with placement till I was happy with the result. I used a retired leaf diecut, but any leaf die will work. I ended up not  using the Maple leaf diecut. I also found some gold ribbon in my stash.

I find it easier to glue down intricate designs by using a craft silicone sheet and sponging the glue to the back of the diecut.

I stamped my sentiment on Basic White cardstock with Blackberry Bliss ink and ran it through my diecutting machine using the Tailor Made Tags dies. I also cut a larger tag of Blackberry Bliss for mounting.

I used black Dimensionals to adhere this to the cardfront.

I hope you have time to spend creating today. And remember, once you finish creating your beautiful cards, let’s not forget to SEND THEM  to brighten someone’s day.
