Plaid Tidings

The August–December 2020 Mini Catalogue Inspiration

PLAID TIDINGS SUITE

I'm often asked about the best all around stamp set or which stamp set a new stamper should start with. You know I love stamps, so I'd never say that there is one stamp set that covers all the bases, but the new August-December 2020 Mini Catalogue does have a stamp set is about as close as it gets. I think you'll love the Celebrations Tidings stamp set that is part of the Plaid Tidings Suite.

If you are new to stamping, the Celebration Tidings stamp set is a great place to start since it has greetings and images that span the holidays and occasions from Autumn through to Valentine's Day.

If you are an avid stamper, like me, you won't want to overlook this gem. Add on the coordinating Celebration Labels Dies and Plaid Tidings 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper and they'll bring you tidings of joyful creativity. Heat embossing and colouring techniques are ideal for this suite!

The tutorial I'm sharing features an interchangeable, multi-season, decor frame. This frame would make an amazing gift. Who do you know that would love to display this in their home? I can think of a bunch of people on my gift list!

New Color Inspiration

New In Colors - Helen Piaskowski

The bright sunshine of summer is here to heat up your creativity! You can create a cool tradition for yourself by having a personal creative retreat each afternoon.  Just add an icy, cold drink and a blend stamping goodies to create a cool crafting time.

The gorgeous new In Colors that are the perfect way to set the mood for your personal creative retreats this summer. Like the colours of summer, the new In Colors are bold, bright, and luscious.

This month's Colour Inspiration projects feature three of the New In Colors. One card is modern and crisp and the other has a chic, romantic flair.

Which one is more your style?

Sunshine and bright colours are popular for summer crafting and occasions.  The new 2020-2022 In Colors are the perfect go-to colours for many of your summer projects.  Magenta Madness, Just Jade, and Bumblebee are featured in these two cards.

The first card features a crisp and clean polka-dot theme using the 2020-2022 In Color 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (#153070). The circle theme continues with the stamped greeting from the A Grand Kit stamp set (#152500) die cut with the circle Stitched Shaped Dies (#152323) and layered onto the 2" Circle Punch (#133782). The gingham checked ribbon from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack (#153620) offsets the circle theme while the 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots (#152480) accent it.

The second card is sweet and bright.  The Gorgeous Posies stamp set (#153289) is used to create a Faux Patterned Paper background.  The Everyday Label Punch (#144668), 1-1/2" Circle Punch (#138299) create the layered label.

Stampin' Up! Inspiration Project

This year I am especially looking forward to the happy colours and new life that comes with Spring. This month Stampin' Up! helped my garden grow with an Early Release of the Ornate Garden Suite from the new Annual Catalog! I've really enjoyed getting creative with the new stamps, dies, and gorgeous Designer Series Paper in the suite and I think you will, too!

Another thing that has brightened my outlook lately is the outpouring of generosity and creativity I see from my stamping friends, both locally and around the world. I've seen amazing examples of caring both big and small. Many are sending more hand stamped cards to loved ones, some are sending stacks of cards to nursing homes or our healthcare workers, while others are using their sewing skills to make masks.

I love seeing the heart of my crafting friends and community in action. Thank you for whatever you are doing to share joy thorough creativity right now, big or small, it's all appreciated!

This month's Colour Inspiration combines the outgoing 2018-2020 In Colors with the early release Ornate Garden Suite. I think you'll like the results!

Oh, I wanted to share a little insider tip. The retiring In Colors usually sell out quickly, so if you want to stock up or get ink refills, it's better to get them now and not to wait for the Retirement List to post!!

I'm feeling a bit nostalgic, since the Retirement List is about to be released, and I know we'll be saying goodbye to some of our stamps and accessories. One of the things I know we'll be saying goodbye to are the 2018-2020 In Colors.

I decided for this month's Colour Inspiration I would get the best of both worlds by combining some of the outgoing 2018-2020 In Colors with the early release Ornate Garden Suite and a top-pick from the Mini Catalogue!

The bright, bold 2018-2020 In Colors are fun and ideal for creating birthday and floral themes. I selected Blueberry Bushel, Call Me Clover, and Lovely Lipstick to feature since I think they make gorgeous, happy floral cards for Spring!

The first card features the early release Ornate Garden Suite. The flower image is front the Ornate Style stamp set (#152572) and the greeting is part of the Ornate Thanks stamp set (#149471). The colouring is done with the 2018-2020 In Color Stampin' Write Markers (#147159). This card is rich in texture and uses both the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder (#152725) and the Ornate Layers Dies (#152726).

The second card features the Peaceful Poppies Suite from the Mini Catalogue. The main floral image is crated using the Painted Poppies stamp set (#) and the greeting comes from the Peaceful Moments stamp set (#151595). The colouring is done with the 2018-2020 In Color Stampin' Write Markers (#147159) and sponging. I also used the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder (#152725) for the background texture on this card, the small floral patter is so versatile you'll use it a lot! This card also uses the Pretty Label Punch (#143715) and Lovely Lipstick 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon.
