Sketch Challenge

It was a dreary cloudy day here yesterday, but I didn't mind at all.  A good friend dropped by in the morning to do a little stamping and we ended up in my studio for almost 6 hours!!! What a fun day it turned out to be. I'm lucky enough to have the room in my studio that we could still maintain social distancing while stamping.

Cindy wanted to try her hand at a Card in a Box. I think she did an amazing job (with just a little help getting the right dimensions lol). She has given me permission to post a few pictures.  Isn't this adorable!

Cindy stamped and die cut the Dino Days stamp set with a  Pretty Peacock card-base and Tropical Oasis DSP.

I had plenty of time to finish off an explosion card for my niece, who is graduating high school this week.  I will show that card in an upcoming post, but for now she has to see it first lol.

I was also able to complete a sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.  Here is the sketch for this week.

It's a very clean and fresh sketch and I was excited to give it a try. This is what I came up with.

 I hand cut the flower images after coloring them with watercolor pencils and blender pen. I wanted a softer look with only a few soft colors. I double punched black cardstock with the Pretty Label punch to border the original punched sentiment.

Stampin' Up! Inspiration Project-Laser Cut Painted Harvest Card

Hello Stampers;

I hope that you and your family are well. I've been spending a lot of time making and sending cards. Just because, we are maintaining social distance it doesn't have to mean being disconnected. I'm doing my best to keep my spirits up and send a bit of sunshine and cheer with hand stamped cards. I hope that you've found creative ways to fill you time, fill your bucket, and fill a few people with joy, too!

Have you seen the new Sharing Sunshine Giveback digital download that Stampin' Up! created? It's packed with relevant greetings and images from the heartfelt to the humorous. 100% of the money raised goes to support Covid-19 charity funds, so you can feel good about giving back and creating something meaningful.

A few of my go-to stamps and accessories are on the Retirement List. If you haven't checked it out and checked off your wish list — now is the time! This month's tutorial features several retiring products that are on my must-have list, including In Colors and the Painted Harvest stamp set.

Have you discovered the beauty of the Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards & Tin? If not, I think you will be surprised at how quickly you can create a stunning card with them. I'm excited to show them to you in this tutorial.

The tin is gorgeous and perfect for gift-giving and stylish storage. The set also includes 12 Very Vanilla laser-cut cards and 12 scallop-edged envelopes. Even better, they are one of the retiring items that are on sale! I'm also going to miss the Painted Harvest stamp set, so I thought I'd combine them and retiring In Colors to wish them all a fond farewell. Enjoy!

Stampin' Up! Inspiration Project

Hello Stampers;

Many people I talk with these days tell me that they are spending more time doing creative things. Some are trying new recipes, some are journaling, and some are stamping cards, paper crafting, and memory keeping.

Creativity is a fun way to pass time, it helps reduces stress, and you can create things that bring joy to others. A yummy meal is a great way to connect with family at home and hand stamped cards are great ways to connect with those at a distance.

Here are my top three suggestions for being creative at home.

1) Set aside time every day to do something creative. If you don't make a specific time, the day will pass by without you enjoying time stamping or creating.

2) Have a purpose. Create with a person, group, or goal in mind. It helps focus you on the project and provides a sense of accomplishment when you complete it.

3) Share your creativity. Craft with your kids, get on a zoom call and create with a friend, or send the cards you create with a thoughtful note. These are all great ways to stay connected with those you love.

For this month's Colour Inspiration I'm saying a fond farewell to the bright and beautiful 2018-2020 In Colors and a couple of the most popular retiring stamp sets.

When you need a bright pop of cheerful colour the retiring 2018-2020 In Colors are a great place to start. These bold, primary colour inspired hues are perfect for summertime crafting, floral and outdoor images, and memory keeping for sports teams.

The first project brings wishes for a brighter day and features the retiring Beautiful You stamps set (#151412), Woodland Embossing Folder (#139673), and Stitched Shapes Dies (#145372).

The second project is a perfect spring thank you featuring the retiring Daisy Delight stamp set (#143669) and 1/2" Circle Punch (#119869) and the coordinating Daisy (#143713) and Medium Daisy (#149517) punches. This should talk about how colour influences the reader and introduce the products used in the two samples. Maybe even a tip of creating.
