Label Fun

The beginning of March means that Spring is marching in and before we know it Sale-A-Bration will be marching out. But, before it goes, I'm excited that I get to announce a Second Release of Sale-A-Bration rewards. These new, limited-time rewards are amazing and make me want to jump for joy! New foiled paper, embossed coloured vellum, and stamps, of course!

If you are like me and love punches, then you are going to swoon over this month's tutorial that shows you how to create a ribbon slider using the new Label Me Fancy and Label Me Lovely Punches. Plus, the punches coordinate with the Sale-A-Bration Second Release stamp set Tags In Bloom Photopolymer Stamp Set. Ask me how you can earn this stamp set.

Since Spring is almost here, the card also features the gorgeous topical colours and images from the Tropical Oasis Suite. Enjoy!

Stampin' Up! Inspiration Project-Label Me Punch Ribbon Slider

Punches are one of my go-to crafting tools. They make adding a greeting or accent quick and simple. It's even better when you have a couple punches that are designed to layer and coordinate like the Label Me Fancy (#151297) and Label Me Lovely (#151296) Punches from the Spring Mini.

Each punch is great on it's own and the Label Me Fancy Punch does triple-duty since it also has hole and slit punches. Combined they make creating tags, labels, and accents a cinch. I'm excited to share a not-so-obvious use for these punches.

This card also features the gorgeous Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper (#151252) and coordinating Timeless Tropical stamp and die bundle (#153811).

I think together they'll make a fabulous stamper-style tropical punch!

DIY Lightbox

I posted a picture of a card I created on my Facebook page looking for some input on what my focal point should be, a butterfly or a dragonfly. (The jury is still out on that!)  When I viewed the pictures that I posted I noticed the cards looked totally different.  They looked washed out and blue when they were in fact black!  I had previously pinned a DIY lightbox tutorial on my Pinterest board so it was time to give it a try.

First I needed a box.  This one was banged up a bit but thought it might still work out.

Next step was to measure for the openings and cut them out with a sharp knife.

I covered the openings with white tissue paper and inserted white copy paper into the inside of the box.  Then got ready to take a photo.

I used my OTT Light as an additional light source even though my studio has plenty of natural light.

Can you see a difference?  The photo on the left is my original picture and the one on the right was retaken in my lightbox.  |What do you think?

Tropical Oasis

Stampin' Up! Inspiration Project

February is the month we celebrate love and it’s also on the threshold between winter and spring. The combination, and my desire for spring to get here quickly, made me think of Aloha. According to Wikipedia, “Aloha is the Hawaiian word for love, affection, peace, compassion, and mercy.” It is frequently used as a simple greeting and to wish someone well when saying goodbye.

Aloha seems pretty fitting, so I used it as my inspiration to break out the Tropical Oasis Suite and start dreaming of warm, peaceful days. I hope you feel a bit of Aloha from this month’s Colour Inspiration!

Winter is holding on so I'm dreaming of a tropical vacation. I thought I'd use some of the gorgeous colours from the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper to create the feel of an island getaway. These colours remind me of a warm summer sunset on a beach with palm trees.
Stampin' Up! Inspiration Project

The card on the right features the Tropical Oasis Suite. The flowers and leaves are stamped with Timeless Tropical stamp set on watercolor paper and die cut with the coordinating In the Tropics Dies . A touch of texture from the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper  and the Basket Weave 3D Embossing Folder  complete the warm, rich effect of this card.

The card on the left features a selection of products from the Peaceful Poppies Suite. The poppies from the Painted Poppies stamp set feature a faux colouring technique that uses the splatter stamp to colour them. The striped Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper  add a nice watercolor effect. The greeting from the Peaceful Moments stamp set  tops off a detailed layered accent created with Whisper White 1/4" Crinkled Seam Binding , vellum Peaceful Poppies Elements , Pearlized Doilies , and the coordinating Label Me Lovely and Label Me Fancy  Punches.

Dinosaur Days

My four year old grandson is experiencing his very first non-family birthday party this weekend and it reminded me I had no child themed birthday cards ready in my box.  I had previously purchased the Dino Days Bundle specifically for my grandson who loves dinosaurs (who doesn't)!  I knew it was time to pull it off the shelf and ink it up.

I have been following a fellow demonstrator Su Mohr at Aromas and Art for several years now.  Every card she creates I fall in love with and this one was no different.  As soon as I saw it I knew I had to CASE (copy and share everything) the card.  Here is mine:

If you look closely, you will notice that I pasted the DSP on the cardfront upside down. Ugh!
                                                                                                                              I have fixed that!
